Doula: "One who mothers the mother"

Congratulations on the new baby you are expecting!

I look forward to providing you with postpartum support in the early days following your baby's birth. My training and experience have given me the tools I need to help you as new parents.  Some mothers have likened  my services to a "walking instruction book".  The one the hospital forgets to send home with your new bundle of joy.

I have  a wealth of information, resources, energy and personal experience. I look forward to helping you and your new baby.  I can help alleviate the stress of those first few weeks following the birth with:
Breastfeeding support
Guidance with newborn care
Advice on prioritizing key tasks
Provide up to date local resource list
Grocery shopping & errands
Light meal preparation
General straightening up
Phone call and visitor screening
Fine tune nursery organization to best meet your needs
New
Attend a free, one-hour meet- and- greet session.
This small group event, held once a month in Ridgewood,  provides an opportunity for you to meet with me and have your questions about working with a doula answered. Call or email for this month’s date, time and location.

I offer a “Baby Blitz” program. This service consists of a one-time home visit (four to five hours duration - $200) during your baby’s first week home. At this visit, we will work together to build your newborn care skills, such as feeding, diapering, dressing and soothing. I’ll answer your questions about sleep, what are normal noises and feeding patterns, etc. I will also provide you with a list of important local and national resources. This option also entitles you to up to three thirty-minute phone consultations over the first month of your baby’s life.  Call or email for more information about one-time seminars.

Many expectant mothers are on the fence about breastfeeding.  Join a small group seminar to help you decide "The Reality of Breastfeeding - 10 myths busted."  Call or email for more information.

For expectant grandparents - "Baby Talk" - What's changed about infant care since you became a new mom/dad.  Date, time and fee to be announced.  Call or email for more information.

Infant massage

Learn the benefits and how-to of infant massage. Massaging your baby is not only fun for you, but also relaxing and soothing for your baby. Massage is said to increase bonding between baby and caregiver and improve your ability to read your baby’s cues. Call to arrange a group or private lesson in your home. Or attend periodic three-session group lessons held at Family Wellness Center in Ho-Ho-Kus. Call 201-652-4662 for schedule and details,
